Reviving North Carolina's Textile Industry
Solid State Clothing is located in Burlington, North Carolina, a small town with a 250-year textile industry history.
In the 1970s, 75% of the clothing Americans purchased was made in the USA. Now, that number is only 2%.
When American clothing brands took their production overseas in the 1900s and early 2000s in pursuit of cheap labor and bigger profits, we did something different.
We built a clothing company dedicated to sustaining our community. Solid State Clothing uses natural fibers grown in the USA, and we work exclusively with manufacturers in our region to craft premium-quality clothing with classic style.
Clothing Designed and Crafted to Last
Our t-shirts are made from 100% U.S-grown ringspun cotton. Ringspinning is the gold standard of yarn production, making a incredibly soft and durable fabric that won't get holes or pill, even after years of wear.
Our products are garment dyed to be fully pre-shrunk, and we've designed every detail of your clothing's construction for maximum comfort and durability.
Rooted in Local Community and Materials
Our mission isn't just about exceptional quality; it's about creating products rooted in local community and materials.
We believe in working directly with local farmers, manufacturers, and artisans is the best way to make exceptional clothing, sustainably and ethically.
Products like our North Carolina Black Walnut T-Shirt are pioneering sustainable uses of local materials like single-origin cotton and foraged dye plants.
